Nuno's still the best guitarist in the world, Gary's voice sounds great and the whole band still rock :)Lyrics, medolies, everything is perfect. Just another awesome album.
To make things short and simple this is a must buy if you are a fan of this band or a fan of hard rock.Nuno puts on a guitar clinic through out this recording.Gary is singing at his raspy best and sometimes sounds like Sammy Hagar.New drummer Kevin Figueiredo sounds great and has hints of Bonzo when he plays.Pat Badger plays a tight solid bass and even gets a little flashy when the song permits.THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MUSIC RELEASES IN 2008.This disc needs a few listens to fully enjoy.
When their next CD comes out I won't hesitate to buy it and I'll hope this is just a warm up for better things to come. Maybe it will grow on me even more as time goes on. At first listen to the song "Star" I loved the beginning but the chorus annoyed me with the word Star being repeated so much.but now it's grown on me more.Regardless, I'm VERY happy they re-united to create the new project even for the new version of Interface alone. It's above average due to the talent involved alone but I really only enjoy 4-5 songs on a regular basis. Noah It is a CD I will play every now and then but it's not one of those "gotta have it in the car at all time" CDs like I was hoping for. But of course compared to buying a CD for one song I heard on the radio (Lips of an Angel) and then not liking ANY of the other Hinder songs I guess that's not bad right.Gary's vocals were great (especially on Interface), Nuno's guitar work was great but my favorite two are the slowest songs on the album, Interface and Ghost and I was hoping for the opposite. Who knows.
But, much like a great jam, sometimes some truly cool, unique stuff comes out and that is why you want to listen to them. Extreme is still extreme. I honestly didn't expect much from this disc, but it is really, really good. Most bands this age are putting out crap or greatest hits packages. A+++ There are some excellent songs on here, an'd kudos to Extreme for continuing to break new ground in the rock genre all these years later. Sure, they dont hit with every single song, nor have they ever.
Just tired of it. Not an outright stellar release although the musicianship WAS stellar, it's fun and lord does the scene desperately need some more fun instead of 'woes me' style rock thats clogging the airways.
